When two musicians whose esthetic preferences and sources of inspiration differ substantially start a cooperative project, what eventually determines the direction their joint work will take is the attempt at bridging the gap between their respective compositional practices.

 

For the two protagonists of the project, J.P. Isnardi (Arca, My Favourite Dentist is Dead, Pas de printemps pour Marnie) and P. Birgy (Div Dep, Gargamel Etchevery), the main question will concern the musical outcome of this confrontation. The answer cannot be predicted: Olifant, as a project, will only unfold in time, with the release of a single at the beginning of each month, and this for the duration of the year. Certainly their shared enthusiasm about pop will provide a common ground for their enterprise. Yet it is difficult to map out in advance the territory they will cover.
